While seated in the front office of Senatobia-Tate County Animal Shelter, Kris Robinson observed a gentleman walking across the yard accompanied by his loyal canine. After instructing the dog to remain outside, he walked into the shelter and requested if they could take his dog. As acting director of the shelter, Robinson recounted the incident and the obedient behavior of the dog.
According to Robinson, although the shelter was at full capacity, she noticed that the teenager required assistance and a stroke of luck. The young man looked dejected and revealed that he had no place to live and resided under a bridge presently. He expressed his inability to look after his dog and was concerned about leaving her alone while he searched for employment. Robinson observed how attached the dog, Jada, was to her owner and took his details while requesting him to complete a surrender form. Jada was evidently frightened and clung to her owner’s leg, sitting down close to him.
A teenager left a bag of dog food at the shelter and Robinson noticed him wiping his face as he walked away. To help Jada, Robinson brought her into the office, but she seemed confused about why her owner wasn’t there. Jada climbed onto a chair and looked out the window, while Robinson went to the back to clean. Later, when Robinson checked on Jada, she was lying down with her food.
The following day, Jada became more at ease with Robinson’s presence, although he acknowledged that no one could ever replace her father. To garner some community support, Jada decided to share the story of the dog on Facebook. However, she had no idea that her post would receive such an overwhelming response.
Robinson commended the young boy for his actions, highlighting his admirable character. Despite not requesting anything for himself, the boy’s sole concern was ensuring Jada’s well-being.
Before long, plenty of offers came in from various places across the country to take care of the dog. However, Robinson believed they could find a better situation. He got in touch with a family in their neighborhood who offered to foster both the teenager and his furry companion. Despite the kind offer, the teenager felt hesitant about accepting it. Robinson explained that the family did not want to adopt the dog, rather they wanted to extend their help in any way possible.
Upon their return to the shelter, the teenager and his family were ecstatic to be reunited with Jada. Robinson observed that Jada rushed towards the teen and leaped onto him, resulting in a heartwarming moment filled with affection. The youngster showered Jada with love and displayed a wide grin on his face.
After a long search, Jada and her father have finally found a secure and comfortable home where they can live together. As a result, Jada is now receiving the necessary medical attention she deserves, and her teenage brother is able to concentrate on his studies without any distractions.
The dedicated sibling is currently working hard to complete his high school education and has plans to attend some classes at a nearby city college. He is also eager to visit a dentist, a luxury he has not experienced before.
Robinson is ecstatic about this new development, and feels extremely proud that one more dog has been taken out of the shelter and one more child off the streets.
